History

  1. April 1977: Inaugurated as a corporate body placed under the jurisdiction of the Economic Planning Agency
    3.2065
  2. 1981: Established an industrial society research fund
  3. 1982: Placed under the joint jurisdiction of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (in addition to the Economic Planning Agency)
  4. Approved by the National Personnel Authority as a research institute for training national civil servants
Organization
Corporate Planning Group
As a public research institute, Corporate Planning Department conducts independent research/studies and policy proposals as set out below:
  •  providing information for members;
  •  setting up regular research meetings;
  •  conducting Consumer Sentiment Index (CSI) surveys every other month;
  •  carrying out research on changes in industrial society; and
  •  preparing economic forecast reports.

Research Group I
Conducts research and investigations consigned by the government, local communities, organizations, and private companies. Researchers specializes in various fields such as, economic and social analysis; analysis on prices of goods, market and industry; consumer analysis; and investigation on citizens’ life. We also undertake business to develop IT strategies for internet business.
  •  Market Development Division
    Supports market research, product development, and marketing activities including internet business.
  •  Investigation and Research Division of Citizen's Life
    Examines all aspects of consumer issues, PL issues, and citizen's life.
  •  Local Development Division
    To achieve mutual development of the society and the local area, this division covers, drafting basic plans for local development, and designing plans to establish educational institutions in local communities.

Research Group II
Conducts research and investigations consigned by the government, local communities, organizations, and private companies. Research Division II covers a wide range of topics including, consumption and saving analysis; economic forecast; financial analysis; local (regional) economics; econometric analysis; welfare economics, issues of the aged society; and environmental economics
  •  Policy Development Division
    In order to support cooperation of local industries, the division provides research on public policy issues, environmental problems, and studies on product development specialized to local communities.
  •  Local Economic Division
    Having access to various stock data, the division conducts econometric analysis and makes economic statistics in relation to local economic polices.
  •  Consumption Economics Division
    Examines the actual circumstances of consumption and savings, and provides economic forecast reports.
  •  Industrial Studies Division
    Covers research and analysis on various fields ranging from industry, business and market trends.
  •  Welfare Economics Division
    Studies issues of the aging society such as employment, pension, nursing and welfare.
